Holiday Balance

Do you ever wonder how to balance all that life brings to the table during the holidays? Good, me too! When thinking about how to prepare to indulge, it is a good time to have a conversation with yourself. 

You may be asking yourself, how do I keep my habits in line with my lifestyle? Well, Iā€™d like to recommend the 80/20 rule. This rule states that 80% of the time you are eating nutritious foods, while 20% of the time you enjoy a treat. We all would like to indulge, but keeping a healthy balance can keep you feeling good both physically and mentally. 

Now, here are some helpful tips for going to celebrate with friends and family: 

  1. Grab a smaller plate which may help with portion sizes

  2. Limit your distractions such as phones, television or computer

  3. Chew slowly (enjoy the food by tasting it)

  4. Connect with your company by taking breaks between bites to have conversations 

  5. Be sure to bring snacks or meals you enjoy

Afterall, it is the holiday season and treats will be about!. Enjoy the foods you love by shifting your mindset to bring  balance  to the table. 

Finally, take the holidays as a time to spend with those you love.. Enjoy the foods that celebrate coming together and create memories that last forever . These are just a few ways we can share our time while still holding ourselves accountable.
